I have learned that once you find a good thing, you hold on to it tight and you shout it from the rooftops! I spent most of the first 2 weeks after we found out we were expecting doing research on how to prepare for baby as well as take care of myself through this process. Here are my top 5 products that I have been testing for the past 10+ weeks and whole heartedly approve of!
1. Boppy Pregnancy Pillow
This this is a life saver. Starting at about week 8, I was experiencing the worst lower back and hip pain. I knew I had to do something as it was only going to get worse. I visited my chiropractor after getting the all clear from my doctor to make sure everything was in the right place. She recommended I shop for a pregnancy pillow ASAP. I wanted something that was going to do its job while not take up our whole king size bed. I stumbled upon the Boppy pillow on the target website and ordered it for pick-up that same evening. This pillow has changed my life. I am able to keep my hips in line and keep my head elevated to combat the acid reflux. You can buy the pillow here:https://amzn.to/2AOseag
2. Care/of Vitamins
I began taking Care/of vitamins at the beginning of our journey to a baby. I took the simple quiz and they recommended a few different vitamins that I might be lacking in my daily life. One that I feel has been a life changer and really helped keep my morning sickness away was the probiotic blend. I switched up my routine when baby came along but I still take the probiotic. I have added the fish oil and their prenatal vitamin. While researching the best prenatal vitamin, I knew from experience that the more natural the better. Folic Acid is in a ton of prenatal vitamins on the shelves today and while this is vital to pregnancy, it is not the most natural form. Folate is the natural form and the body absorbs this easier. Care/of prenatal vitamins contain folate so I knew I had to add it to my pack! If you are wanting to try Care/of, I have an offer code for $40 off your first month! That made my first month (with about 6 different vitamins) FREE! Get your free $40 here: https://takecareof.com/invites/askvva
3. Felt Letter Board
A letter board may seem cliche but we love being able to document milestones during this pregnancy with ours. From the start we had “xx Weeks” on the board and updated it every Saturday to the new week. We were able to announce our baby girl’s name with our letter board shortly after we popped the confetti cannons. Now it sits in her almost completed nursery with her name and how many weeks we are. It’s a great way to visually see how many weeks have gone by and how many we have left. We plan on using this board to announce her birth as well. I love how clean it looks and the white letters stand out from the grey! You can grab this size on amazon: https://amzn.to/2SYpBK4
4. Expecting Better
While most moms rush out to buy “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” I highly recommend adding this book to your order as well. While WTEWYE provides a ton of very scientific and detailed information about what is going to happen to your body, it can be overwhelming. Quite honestly, it can scare a new mom because it not only highlights the good stuff but a portion of the book goes into detail on what could go wrong. A new mom does not want to hear the bad stuff right after finding out there is a baby on the way. Here is where Expecting Better steps in. This book gets straight to the point on all the scientific facts surrounding pregnancy. It is very easy to read and helps new moms debunk some of the controversial topics related to pregnancy. I found that I was more comfortable while reading Expecting Better than WTEWYE. It isn’t a novel and I consider it a must read for new moms. I’m sure second+ time moms can relate to many of the things Emily Oster points out. Buy Expecting Better here: https://amzn.to/2FDFRMO
5. Mothers Friend
This product may look like it belongs in the 90s but I swear by it! One of my best friends recommended this product as she had used it throughout her pregnancy. Now we all know (or at least I hope we all know) that stretch marks are hereditary. There isn’t too much we can do to prevent them. However, as your skin stretches to accommodate baby, you will notice that it might itch or even sting a little. This is where I love to use my Mothers Friend! I lather myself up with this after my showers and my skin stays soft for hours. Plus a little of this goes a long way. It might look like bubble gum (color wise) but it works wonders. I no longer deal with itchy skin and especially in the winter months, dry skin. Mothers Friend will be around my house for a while and even after baby comes! Order here: https://amzn.to/2AQC9fn
Overall, these are just a few of the products I can’t live without so far in my pregnancy. I am sure the list will be updated as time goes on but if you are a brand new mom to be, grab one of each of these items and trust me you will thank me!
